A 25 year love affair with comedy
Lakin McCarthy Entertainment
It was July 1972. At Butlins Holiday Camp in Lytham St Annes a precocious lad of 12 took to the stage for the first time to take part in a talent contest, and after telling a series of appalling Irish jokes, he was beaten into third place by a clown playing the spoons and a girl singing “Twelfth Of Never”. But it didn’t matter…that boy, Steve Gribbin, had been well and truly bitten by the comedy bug, and had fallen in love. It was indeed ‘Laugh At First Sight!’
‘Laugh At First Sight’ examines Steve’s torrid love affair with the comedic arts, detailing the ups, the downs, the stony silences, the euphoric highs, the sulphuric lows, the sheer unadulterated strangeness of a life devoted to that sternest of mistresses, Comedy.
A brand new one man show from one of the top performers on the comedy circuit – a regular member of The Comedy Store’s ‘Cutting Edge’ team.
“A truly imaginative comic singer”

“Like a harder, more political, less troll-like Bill Bailey..he had the place in stitches as he regaled us with his biting satire”
