Triple A Programme

Triple AStratford Circus is a new kind of arts venue driven by the diversity and youth culture of east London – one which blends professional arts production with artist development, access and learning programmes to nurture talent, develop participation and audiences.

The extent of Stratford Circuses commitment to participation is what makes it unique. The development and delivery of education and community programmes to Newham’s diverse population that increase access, promote progression, widen participation and provide enjoyable activities that promote wellbeing is a central strand of our work.

Stratford Circus has been a partner on the Creative and Media Diploma since its inception, the successful bid to deliver the Diploma in Newham was heavily based on the dynamic partnership of NewVIc, Stratford Circus, its resident organisations and the local schools within the 14 – 19 partnership.

During the planning and initial delivery of the Creative and Media Diploma, Stratford Circus identified a need to be able to enrich the delivery with employer engagement.

Stratford Circus has been the lead deliverer on the Creative Arts Newham programme, which bridges the gap between education institutions and creative industry employers and reveals an established cultural programme offer of over 100 courses delivered by six local cultural and education organisations: Circus Media Centre, East London Dance, Stratford Circus, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Theatre Venture and Urban Development.  Building on this established offer, Stratford Circus successfully secured funding from the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation to deliver the Triple A Programme.

The London Thames Gateway Development Corporation also identified two schools in the regeneration area of Canning Town (Royal Docks and Eastlea), who are not delivering the diploma, as in need of activity that used employer engagement to enhance curriculum and support regeneration.

The Triple A Programme aims to support excellence in schools through an extended programme of industry led programmes and activities in;

  1. The Creative and Media Diploma
  2. Progression to further study and employment
  3. Employer engagement

The programme will improve Aspiration, Attitude and Achievement through employer engagement by delivering:

  • Live industry programmes using employer engagement to enhance the Creative and Media Diploma in being delivered in 4 schools (Lister, Brampton Manor, Little Ilford and Stratford).
  • A programme of activity with professional artists and cultural leaders in 2 Canning Town Schools not delivering the diploma (Eastlea and Royal Docks), using employer engagement to enhance curriculum and support regeneration.
  • A programme of live industry projects with students from 6 schools using employer engagement to enhance curriculum and boost recruitment to the Creative and Media Diploma.
  • Performance and showcase opportunities in cultural venues as part of the London Borough of Newham Festival of Culture, the Arts and Sport
  • New materials and resources available online for all schools in Newham with potential roll-out to London Thames Gateway.
  • A three year programme of Continual Professional Development (CPD) delivered for teachers in 6 schools, using live industry projects in order to skill up teachers in the delivery of the Creative and Media Diploma and increase teachers awareness of progression opportunities and career pathways in the creative industries.
  • A three year programme of Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) in the 6 participating schools to increase awareness of the Creative Arts Newham offer and the progression opportunities and career pathways available in the creative industries.  Increased participation in and access to cultural venues for 6 schools and 500 members of the local community per annum.
